Have you ever been confronted with a problem or an issue and wondered if there is a book out there that can help solve the situation. Are you a student studying for an exam and want to know how to get the most out of your study program, this article may be of some use. For many who want to read for self development to help change their mind set or maybe as a way to improve their home business, or online business techniques these steps are key.
Abraham Lincoln when reading a book always took time out to reflect on what he had just taken in, he tried to assimilate the information to his current situation.
There are four key steps to follow when reading a book, these are as follows:
- First Reading – for General Content. This should be a fast read through of the book or what it is you are studying. When you are going through highlight important words and phrases that stand out to you. You may also want to make notes in the margin of ideas that flash through your mind on this first read.
- Second Reading – Read for Emphasis. On the second reading you should not take time to reflect on each chapter that you go through. Try to assimilate what you have learnt into your every day life. Try to apply what you have taken in and put it into action. It is no good reading if you are not willing to take action on what you have learnt.
- Third Reading – Read For The Future. This more of a memory feat that reading through the book again. It is your opportunity to mesmerise important paragraphs or sayings that you have come across that are meaningful to you. Write them down so that you will remember them. When you write them down you are etching this in your thoughts.
- Fourth Read – Read later. To refresh your memory and to rekindle your passion. Sometimes, we become discouraged through whatever reason and it is at those times that we should take the opportunity to raise our self esteem and go over the books that inspired you in the first place.
